The greatest hockey team of all time: the story of the 1991-1992 Pittsburgh Penguins.

May 25, 1992, The Pittsburgh Penguins hoisted the Stanley cup. A reward to prove the absolute dominance of the Penguins over the greatest league in the world for that year.

led by 6 future Hall of Famers in Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, Joe Mullen, Larry Murphy, Mark Recchi, and Paul Coffey, they were simply unbeatable. Beyond these legendary players, they had elite players like Ulf Samuelsson, Ron Francis and Kevin Stevens. This is hands down the deepest team of all time, when you pair a top 3 player of all time in Mario Lemieux with 5 other hall of fame and elite players you are going to have a juggernaut of a team.

Although they underachieved during the regular season: only finishing 3rd in their division, they came alive in the playoffs. they started by beating the Washington Capitals in 7 games, this was an impressive feat as that Capitals team finished the regular reason tied for 2nd in the league. Fortunately for the Penguins, this hard-fought series was just the beginning of their dominant playoff run as they beat the regular season and division champion New York Rangers in 6 games. After Slugging some of the league's best teams in the playoffs this legendary Penguins team was in full stride when they swept the Boston Bruins to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. This is where they met a legendary Chicago team led by future hall of fame players Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, Dominik Hasek and Ed Belfour. This team of 4 future hall of fame payers just could not compete with a juggernaut Penguins team with more hall of fame players and depth options. The Penguins swept the Blackhawks to clinch the 1992 Stanley cup championship, proving that they were the best team in hockey at the time, no team has ever had a better roster since, proving that the 1992 Pittsburgh Penguins are the greatest team of all time.
